Vocations
An
Invitation to Share the Journey
The discernment of a vocation is a wonderful
journey. Here is some information on the call
to be a Redemptorist priest or brother.
Charism
Redemptorists today strive to
carry on the tradition of Saint Alphonsus Liguori,
by reaching out to the most abandoned poor.
They do so especially by proclaiming the Gospel,
as Jesus said of himself: "The Spirit of
the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed
me to bring glad tidings to the poor..."
(Luke 4:18).
Ministries
Today the Redemptorists work
by preference (though not exclusively) for the
poor in a variety of ministries:
- Preaching
popular or parish missions
- Ordinary
pastoral care in poor parishes
- Retreat
houses
- Publications
- Social
works
- Specialized
apostolates such as hearing impaired ministry,
hospital chaplaincies, prison apostolate,
etc.
- Missions
in foreign lands
