| Serafino Fiore, C.Ss.R. Province of Naples – He was born on April 1, 1950, at Corato (BA), Italy, where he spent two years as an aspirant before going to Lettere and then to Ciorani where he did his Novitiate in 1965-1966. He studied at Colle Sant’Alfonso from 1966 to 1974, when he was ordained a priest. He then went to Rome to specialize in sacramental theology at the Anselmianum, while living with the Redemptorists at the Basilica of St. John Lateran, where they worked at that time. He was about to write his doctoral thesis when his Province recalled him to take charge of the Pre-novitiate (1978–1981) and appointed him Prefect of Students (1981–1990). He was then elected Consultor and Provincial Secretary (1990–1996) and Provincial Vicar (1996–1997). From 1990 to 1997 he was also Provincial Procurator for the foreign missions. From 1980 to 1997 he was also a Consultor at the National Vocation Center of the Italian Episcopal Conference. He has been involved in parish missions and other pastoral activities, directed retreats for young people, priests, religious women and men, etc., and collaborated in the publication of vocation material in magazines, which he continues to do. During the XXIII General Chapter of 2003, he was confirmed as General Consultor for another sexennium and elected General Vicar of the Congregation. |
