XXV Anniversary of the
‘Youth Mission’
of El Espino
This
summer, from July 20-27, 2008, the 25th
anniversary of the first ‘Youth Mission’
will be celebrated. This particular
mission was organized by the RYVM of
our Province
of Madrid.
In a way it was here that the RYVM really
began as a pastoral service of dynamic
leadership. In 1983, young people who
had participated in a popular mission,
together with young people belonging
to the youth groups of various Redemptorist
communities in different regions of
the country, came together for a communal
celebration in El Espino, in the north
of Spain.
Since then, more than 7,000 young people
have come to El Espino for the feast
of Christ the Redeemer. In this Mission
young people evangelize young people.
The RYVM intends to make use of this
jubilee celebration to launch this kind
of mission in the Spanish Church.
The coming gathering at El Espino will
be a meeting of the different generations
who have come to this place and will
provide a new stimulus for young people
and Redemptorists to allow themselves
to be guided by the Spirit.
