General Secretariat
for Formation |

The Executive Secretary
History
Already at its first meeting, the Secretariat discovered that if it was
going to think seriously about the formation for
formators, it had to find a confrere who could
dedicate himself totally to this task. The reasons
were very simple:
a) The Secretariat by its very nature (defined in
our Constitutions and in the
statement of the mission of the Secretariat
forms a body that serves the General Government
with its study, reflections and suggestions. Of
itself it does not have any decision-making or
executive powers.
b) All the members of the Secretariat, even if their
dedication to its mission is invaluable, have
other important activities (general consultors,
provincial, regional and local superiors, formators,
professors, etc.), which exclude the possibility
of engaging in any kind of constant work for the
programs of the Secretariat.
When we received a “green light” from the General Government, we developed
the job description for the Executive Secretary
and found a candidate.
At the extraordinary
“consulta” of the General
Council in June, 2006 the General Superior appointed
Fr. Luis Alberto Roballo
from the Province
of Bogotá
for this task. Fr. Luis is coming to Rome
in February, 2007 to begin this appointment to
full-time work for the Secretariat.
