Jacek Dembek, C.Ss.R. Province
of Warsaw – He was born on September 9, 1961 in Toruń,
After he finished his studies and graduated from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń with a masters degree in mathematics/algebra, he entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in September, 1984, and began his formation and studies at the Warsaw Province seminary in Tuchów. On February 2, 1986 he made his first profession of vows. He then continued his studies in the provincial seminary and at the same time began to study philosophy at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków. There he obtained a masters degree in philosophy in 1987 and licentiate in 1989. He made his final profession on August 15, 1990. In 1991 he started teaching logic at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 14, 1991, at the Redemptorist church in Toruń. During the academic year of 1991-1992 he worked on his
doctoral thesis in the philosophy of science at the Catholic University
of America in Washington, D.C., After his return to In 1996 he began to study dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and obtained a licentiate in 1997. Further study was interrupted by his election as the Provincial Vicar of the Warsaw Province in February, 1999. As Provincial Vicar he was primarily responsible for the work of the Secretariat for Apostolic Life and the Commission for Radio Maryja. In June, 2002 he was appointed Superior of the Redemptorist
community and Rector of the Redemptorist seminary in Kraków.
He preached parish missions and retreats, particularly retreats for priests
and religious in Since 1993 he has been a member of the Warsaw Provincial Chapters. He was elected a Vocal to the General Chapters of 1997 and 2003. On October 3, 2003 he was elected General Consultor for the 2003-2009 sexennium. |
