Dembek, C.Ss.R. -------------------------------------------------- Fr. Dembek was born on September 4, 1961 in Toruń, Poland. He joined the Congregation in September of 1984. He made his first profession of vows on February 2, 1986 and his profession of perpetual vows on August 15, 1990. He was ordained to priesthood on June 14, 1991 at the Redemptorist church in Toruń. He has the following academic degrees: · M.Sc. in mathematics/algebra (1984, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń); · Ph.D. in philosophy of science and logic (1993, Pontifical Academy of Theology in Kraków); · S.T.L. in dogmatic theology (1997, Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome). After completing his formal studies he lectured in the Redemptorist Seminary in Kraków (logic, philosophy of science, philosophy of nature) and in the Pontifical Academy of Theology and other diocesan and religious seminaries in the city. For three years he was the Provincial Vicar of the Province of Warsaw and later the Superior of the Redemptorist community in Kraków. He has preached parish missions and retreats, particularly retreats for priests and religious in Poland and in other countries. In Kraków, he participated in pastoral ministry for the English-speaking inhabitants of the city and tourists. Since 1993 he was a member of the Warsaw Provincial Chapters. He was elected a Vocal to the General Chapters of 1997 and 2003. The XXIII General Chapter elected him to serve as a General Consultor during the 2003-2009 sexennium. In the General Government he was the President of the General Secretariat for Formation and a member of the General Secretariat for Economy. He also served the Congregation as the President of the Central Preparatory Commission for the XXIV General Chapter. The XXIV General Chapter re-elected him to serve as a General Consultor during the 2009-2015 sexennium. |
