Athanase Nsiamina Masengi, C.Ss.R.Vice-Province of Matadi – Democratic Republic of Congo ----------------------------------------------------- He was born in Luozi, Democratic Republic of Congo, November 27, 1957. He finished his secondary studies in 1980, obtaining a Diploma in General Pedagogy. He professed vows for the first time on September 15, 1982. From 1982 to 1985 he studied philosophy at St. Augustine’s Philosophical Institute, Kinshasa and from 1985 to 1989 he studied theology at St. Eugene Mazenod Institute, Kinshasa. He was ordained a priest on August 5, 1990 and until 1992 was completely engaged in parochial ministry. From 1992 he was in charge of the Secretariat for Justice and Peace and also in charge of a Mission Team that preached parish missions. In 1996 he was sent to Rome to specialize in communication media. He did a specialized course in pastoral work and social communication (SPICS) and in the Gregorian University from 1996-1999. He was elected Vice-Provincial Superior of Matadi for the 1999-2002 triennium and then re-elected in 2002. He founded and was Director of Radio Espérance, a catholic radio station for the Lower-Congo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in 2002-2003. At the XXIII General Chapter of 2003 he was elected a
